Player's Charity Championship Returns

Organizers Hope to Bring Back Memories of the Original
and Create New Excitement

PCC_logoEvery player will agree - there was just something about it.

A lot has changed since the Player's Charity Championship (PCC) in 2004. Golden Tee Fore! has been replaced by Golden Tee LIVE and the event site is now suburban St. Louis rather than suburban Chicago.

Yet bring up the PCC to any player who participated in the original and they recall it like it happened yesterday. Whether they remember the CBS Sunday Morning television crew, the $40,000+ raised for charity, the intense competition or the raucous crowd, the

reaction is always the same - there was just a good vibe surrounding it.

Which is why the players are bringing it back!

After a four-year hiatus, the PCC makes its illustrious return on February 22-24 at Side Pockets in St. Charles, MO near St. Louis. A charity event first and foremost, the PCC is a special tournament where players can not only compete against top competition, but also help a great cause - the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

"The goal is to raise $55,000," said tournament director Jeff Harlow. "But I personally think we can reach $75,000."

Aiding the former World Champion's optimism is a new process that makes it easier to collect donations - HarlowDonorPages. Through this tool, players can create their own personal fundraising website where friends, family, coworkers, vendors, etc. can visit to make donations! All the donations are securely processed in real time, and the money is deposited directly to VG4U. Straight donations of checks and cash are also welcome.

Plus it pays to fundraise. From hats, to gift cards to a Plasma TV, players will receive incentives based on how much money they raise. They can even fundraise their way to St. Louis by raising $3,500 or more! And remember, it's all for a good cause.

With well over 100 players expected, a $4,000 first prize and sponsorship from American Airlines and possibly Jack Daniels and Budweiser, Harlow has no doubts that 2008's PCC will outdo the original. A tough task considering the place the original PCC has taken up in their hearts. But as the excitement continues to grow, the player community is starting to believe that the good vibes from 2004 will be present in 2008. And that bodes well not only for the players, but all the people they will help as well.

"I think the original PCC granted seven or eight wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation," Harlow said. "I'm hoping that we can grant a lot more than that. It's going to be a great event."
