Sobe Tip - Fly-By Button
When Golden tee Fore! first came out, the new Fly-By button was all the rage. For the first time, players could actually SEE the entire layout of a hole up close and personal. It brought a whole new dimension to the game and scores began to improve. But in recent years I've noticed a lot of players overlooking this button or not using it to its full potential.
The habit I see now is players relying too heavily on the "Overhead View Box" in the lower left-hand corner of the screen as reference of where to hit a shot. Come on guys, we're not playing GT '99 anymore. The overhead is just a reference. The Fly-By is the reality. I don't know about you, but I'd rather take a look with my own eyes instead of just getting a general idea. By tapping this button you can visualize your shot and examine your target area closely. You'll be surprised how much this can help.
Using the Fly-By button only improves your course management - which is critical in Golden Tee. The more knowledge you can gain about a hole, the better chance you’ll have at not making a mistake. Being able to identify water, bunkers, trees and all other trouble areas on a hole leads to better decision-making and better scores. I can’t stress it enough the importance of visualization. We're lucky the game helps you with that… use it.

| By holding the Fly-By Button, you can see overhead trees like in the image above. Without looking up you'd never know your 5-wood couldn't get under those branches. |
Look up
The Fly-by button can also help with those pesky trees. By holding the Fly-By button, the camera will pan up to give a view of what is above you. This is a great tool for spotting tree limbs, tree gaps and judging height.
A great trick is holding the button down so you can keep this “alternate” view throughout your entire shot. This way you always see where the trees are. I strongly believe it helps accuracy. There's only one problem - the button is located on the left side so if you hit left handed...you’re out of luck. Unless you have something heavy to place on the button - like a phone or wallet. Bricks work well too, though I don't recommend them.
