The pros have been close… but the amateurs have been closer!
If eight Illinois Lottery closest-to-the-pin competitions have taught us anything it's that you don't have to be a superior player to have fun and win. At the midway point in the race to the finals it's the average players who have been taking down the best in Chicagoland.
It all started with Timothy O'Toole's regular Nick Thompson of Chicago who claimed the victory at the kick-off party back on January 10 despite numerous die hards in attendance.
The trend has only gained momentum as location after location, average Joe's continue to win in boisterous and enjoyable competitions where players vie for a chance to compete in the $15,000 championship on March 12 at Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire.
And don't think guys are the only ones enjoying themselves at these events.
Two-time Golden Tee world champion Graig Kinzler has thus far been unable to claim a spot in the final 16, but his girlfriend, Cortney Black of Chicago, punched her ticket on January 24 by hitting a hole-in-one to win at Sluggers in Wriggleyville.
Then there is Tina Lukasz of Buffalo Grove who despite having NEVER played before, hit a hole-in-one of her own to win at Rack'em Up Chicago in Buffalo Grove on January 26.
With eight more qualifying competitions left, anything can happen. But one thing is for sure, the Illinois Lottery closest-to-the-pin competitions have been a BALL! Just like the Illinois Lottery itself!
In case you hadn't heard, Golden Tee and the Illinois Lottery have teamed up to create a Golden Tee Golf instant ticket where you can win up to $25,000 in cash or your very own Golden Tee machine!
To celebrate, the Illinois Lottery is hosting 17 Golden Tee promo nights at Chicago area bars from mid-January through early March.
It's your game. It's your ticket. Compete in the closest-to-the-pin contest and play the Golden Tee Golf instant ticket from the Illinois Lottery. Be a scratch golfer!
