Golden Tee 2009 Design-a-Hole Contest
Presented by Goldentee.com

You don't know him… but you do.

His name is Jim Zielinski - senior game designer at Incredible Technologies and co-creator of Golden Tee Golf. For nearly twenty years Jim has been responsible for the design of almost 100 virtual golf courses. Every pixel, each terrain, the shortcuts - from challenging to frustrating - and nearly 2,000 holes.

You met Jim while spinning your first trackball on the pixilated tees of Royal Links in 1989. And as the years progressed, so did the relationship.

Remember trying to stick the infamous "peninsula green" of Rancho Saguaro in 1999. Or how about hole #7 of Rattlesnake Ridge in 2002? You know, "the Canyon Hole?" How could you forget?! Or does Heather Pointe #17 in 2005, ring a bell? It was a par-3 with a right-10° green, protected by pot bunkers and a cliff that falls steeply into the North Channel. Jim still smirks at the thought of that one.

You know him and now it's your chance to be him.

The Golden Tee 2009 Design-a-Hole Contest empowers you, the player, to leave your signature mark on the world's most famous video golf game. It's your chance to throw your best ideas at the biggest brains in the game for a shot at Golden Tee immortality in Golden Tee 2009 - the commemorative, 20th anniversary of the award-winning golf series.

It's time to design!

Being a Part of Golden Tee History has Never Been so Easy

  • The idea submission portion of the Design-a-Hole Contest runs from March 14 - April 15.
  • The idea pool will be judged by Jim and Golden Tee Golf co-creator Larry Hodgson.
  • Jim and Larry will choose three finalists whose ideas exhibit the most creativity, challenge and signature charm that warrants placement into their award-winning game.
  • Finalists will be judged by popular vote on Goldentee.com from May 1 - May 15. Vote as many times as you would like and tell your friends too.

ELECTRONIC: HARD COPY:
  • Ideas can be submitted in hard copy form.
  • All submissions must be received by April 15th.
  • Send all submissions to:

Creativity is the Golden Rule

  • Your idea will be judged overall on its creativity. A good design should be challenging, not frustrating; clever, not crazy; and most importantly entertaining. Show us what you've got!
  • Any Par 3, 4 or 5 hole is eligible.
  • There is no limit to the amount of ideas you can submit. Just make 'em good.
  • The creativity of your submission counts too! From the back of a bar napkin to a polished video on YouTube, you're encouraged to "think big" to get your idea across. The easier you can impart your vision to Jim and Larry, the better your odds on becoming a finalist.
  • A creative name for your design is also a necessary ingredient for success. Without a name, DaVinci's Mona Lisa would just be "some chick" from the Italian Renaissance!

The Stakes: Golden Tee Immortality

  • If your design is picked as a finalist and wins the popular vote, it goes on the fast track from concept to creation. Jim will breathe life into your idea and fit it into one of five new 2009 courses.
  • A sign will sit just off the tee box of your hole, linking the title of the hole and your name forever - the ultimate bragging right. World Champions Graig Kinzler and Chris Eversole may have their faces in the game but you have a chance to be the game.
