He's created more than 90 virtual courses and nearly 1,800 holes, but senior game designer and chief golf course architect Jim Zielinski finally let someone else take control of the reins.
In May of this year, the first ever Design-a-Hole competition reached a conclusion. After 20,000 online votes, Dave Hollingshead from St. Charles, Missouri prevailed with his creative Par 4 design "The Falls."
With the winning design chosen, Jim Zielinski went to work. His goal was trying to be as true to the design as possible while working within his own “system.” "It was pretty neat and a lot of fun," said Jim on re-creating Hollingshead's hole. "I wanted to make sure that the essence of Dave’s hole came through. I didn't want to put my stamp on it."
Dave Hollingshead's design will soon be played by millions of Golden Tee players around the globe. It's the 15th hole on the 2009 Black Hills course, and his design will be a part of Golden Tee history forever.
Check back soon for new Golden Tee-sers, and find out more about the special 20th anniversary edition of the world’s most popular coin-operated video game.
