Design-a-Hole
Golden Tee 2010 Design-a-Hole Contest, Presented by Goldentee.com

Dave Hollingshead was an ordinary Golden Tee player. With a simple sketch, he transformed himself from GT fan to GT legend and now will be forever linked to the game's storied history.

His clever and appropriately titled hole design "The Falls" went from drawing to unmistakable par-4 on the Mount Rushmore-centric Black Hills course. After grabbing forty-three percent of the twenty thousand plus online votes in the two-week span, the GT fans crowned Dave and his design, winner of the inaugural 2009 Design-a-Hole Contest.

Now the contest returns and players are once again given a shot to mold their passion into a creation worthy of a spot in Golden Tee 2010. Those who want their shot at redemption or simply crave to have their say, have the opportunity. Again.

"Last year's contest scratched the surface on the creativity and the unbelievable amount of hole knowledge our players have," said senior game designer and co-creator of Golden Tee Golf Jim Zielinksi. "I feel that this year we will see more originality and have much tougher choices narrowing down the field to three finalists."

It's a new year. The stakes are the same, but the slate is clean. Don't let your brilliant ideas go to the wayside, submit an entry and see what our prestigious GT judges have to say. Dave Hollingshead did, and now we want to see who will make history in Golden Tee 2010.

Don't just play the game, be a part of it.

It's time to design!

Being a Part of Golden Tee History has Never Been so Easy

  • The idea submission portion of the Design-a-Hole Contest runs from March 16 - April 15.
  • The idea pool will be judged by Golden Tee Golf creators Larry Hodgson and Jim Zielinski.
  • Larry and Jim will choose three finalists (more if necessary) whose ideas exhibit the most creativity, challenge and signature charm that warrants placement into their award-winning game.
  • Finalists will be judged by popular vote on Goldentee.com from May 4 - May 22. Vote as many times as you would like and tell your friends to do the same!

Creativity is the Golden Rule Larry Hodgson and Jim Zielinski

  • Your idea will be judged overall on its creativity. A good design should be challenging, but possible, clever, not insane; and most importantly entertaining and unique. Show us what you've got!
  • Any Par 3, 4 or 5 hole is eligible.
  • There is no limit to the amount of ideas you can submit. Just make 'em good!
  • The creativity of your submission counts too. From the back of a bar napkin to a polished video on YouTube™, you're encouraged to "think big" to get your idea across. The easier you can impart your vision to Jim and Larry, the better your odds on becoming a finalist.
  • A creative name for your design is also a necessary ingredient for success. Without a name, DaVinci's Mona Lisa would just be "some chick" from the Italian Renaissance!

The Stakes: Golden Tee Immortality

  • If your design is picked as a finalist and wins the popular vote, it goes on the fast track from concept to creation. Jim will breathe life into your idea and fit it into one of five new 2010 courses.
  • A sign will sit just off the tee box of your hole, linking the title of the hole and your name forever - the ultimate bragging right. World Champions Graig Kinzler and Chris Eversole may have their faces in the game but you have a chance to be the game.
