Recently the Marketing Team at Golden Tee Central received the following email. We loved it so much we just had to share it.

Golden Tee Team,

A group of us play Golden Tee daily, but most important we play on Wednesday nights at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7175 North Shelby in Millington, TN. Our group consists of retired Navy, active duty Navy and former Marine Corps personnel. We have been playing GT to a person an average of 10 years. We play in casual mode and on Wednesday’s, we play the following format:

$2.00 to the winner of the front nine, $2.00 to the winner of the back nine, and $2.00 to the overall winning score. We also have a requirement of $1.00 for a Great Shot. We call this "Music" because of the tune that’s played. When a Hole-in-One is made we then up the fee to $5.00.

All of the proceeds from our games are donated to Post 7175 and they in turn provide these funds to the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation (www.safeharborfoundation.org) and to the Marine Corps Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org). Both organizations deal with helping service members and their families with any post 9/11 injuries.

While this may sound like a small amount of money, we all shoot on average around 22-25 under per game with stock balls and clubs. With four players, the amount of "Music" that is generated is rather high, about $5.00 per player per game. Bottom line is we hope to provide a minimum of $300.00 per month to the funds split 50-50. It is a good way to raise money for injured service members while enjoying the game that we love.

Semper Fi!

William H. Wilson, former Sgt of Marines, 1980-1987.

Thanks for sharing, Sgt. Bill. Not only are you guys having fun, your side-action is helping those vets who need it the most. Keep up the great work and keep us posted on how much “music” you guys are making.

Check out the Chip Shots archive and stay tuned to goldentee.com for new Chip Shots each week. Got an interesting photo or story related to any of our games? Send it to chipshots@itsgames.com and you might just be the next big thing!
