QUICK STATS:
Although the turnout might have been smaller compared to some of this year's other events, the inaugural Nebraska Classic no doubt paved the way for years to come.
The Corner Bar in Fremont played host to the inaugural event on July 16th through the 18th. Along with some great drink specials, good food, and good people, some of the game's best players made the trip to the Cornhusker state to see what the first tournament was all about.
Getting a tournament started from the ground up requires patience, dedicated players, and a lot of hard work leading up to the event. There's no doubt that the Nebraska crew certainly set a great foundation with their first, and the 2010 event is the start of what they believe will be must-see GT for a long time to come.
After fun on Friday night the actual tournament took place on Saturday and Sunday and some of Golden Tee's finest players made it through until the very end. When the dust settled in the first-ever Nebraska Classic, however, three very familiar names and faces rounded out the tournament podium.
Coming in 3rd place was Wichita's Danny "Dannyboy" Beall who has been involved in live tournaments for quite sometime and even has a title under his belt. Runner-up was Minnesota's Marc "The Mouth" Muklewicz who also is always near the top in most live tournaments.
Taking home the title, however, was Minnesota's Todd Penticoff. Todd beat out the rest of the crew and will forever be known as the first-ever Nebraska Classic champion. Congrats to Todd on a well played tourney and thanks to everyone that showed up for the first, but certainly not the last Nebraska Classic!
We look forward to covering this event in 2011!
