Golden Tee Players Raise Money to Aid Double H Ranch

It’s a fact that Golden Tee players have big hearts. The Golden Tee Players Charity Championship is the most obvious testament to their generosity. This mega-tournament hopefully will raise $100,000 this summer for our veterans and their families.

But there are also hundreds of smaller local Golden Tee fund-raisers conducted across the country every year. They’re run by average guys who just want to help out, and the players are locals who come out to support the cause.

Recently, for the fourth consecutive year, a group of players got together at Gunther’s Bar and Grill in Plainfield, Illinois to spend the day playing Golden Tee and to raise money for the Double H Ranch. The Double H Ranch was co-founded by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman, and provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

“Everyone had a great time and we raised over $1,500 for the Ranch,” said organizer Tim Weaver. “And one of the guys matched the total so we hit $3,000!”

Besides playing Golden Tee for charity, the guys also shaved their heads to help raise funds for the Ranch.

“We go all out for the Double H Ranch,” Tim said. “Playing Golden Tee and shaving our heads is just another way of raising money and showing our support for the kids.”
