The World Championship of Fantasy Football

The Ultimate Competition for the Fantasy Football Fan - Partnership with Golden Tee Launches with PCC Sponsorship

It was week 16 in the 2009 NFL season. Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys were matched up in a Sunday night contest against the Washington Redskins. It wasn’t a game to get excited about as Washington had already packed it in for the season and Dallas was looking ahead to Philly the following week.

WCOFFBut to Jason Conn of Cleveland it was the biggest game of his life.

Conn needed Tony Romo to generate 11 fantasy football points – a very nominal sum for any quarterback, and an absolutely paltry amount for one of the NFL’s top QBs.

“All I could think about was that he’d get hurt on the first play and that would be it,” he said. “When he scored that 12th point it was the most unbelievable feeling in my life!”

And it’s easy to understand why. Those final few points made Conn the winner of the 2009 World Championship of Fantasy Football’s Main Event and the $300,000 in cash that went with it.

The WCOFF has been around since 2002 and it keeps getting bigger and better each year. In 2009 there were 1,200 teams competing in the Main Event and this year promises more of the same.

“We expect another sell out,” said Dave Barnett, director of sales for GridIron Fantasy Sports, the company behind the WCOFF. “That’s why we’ve added three new draft venues in Atlantic City, Orlando and Chicago. The Vegas draft at the Venetian is unbelievable of course, but these new locations will also be very cool. Now there’s no reason to miss this year’s competition.”

When the opportunity arose to be a part of this year’s Golden Tee Players Charity Championship, the guys at the WCOFF jumped at it.

“First, we think supporting Salute and our veterans is a great cause,” Barnett said. “Secondly we want to get our message out to Golden Tee players across the country. We know that GT players love to play fantasy football and it just makes sense to work with Incredible Technologies and VG4U to connect with GT players. It’s a perfect partnership.”

GridIron Fantasy Sports has donated 2 entries into the WCOFF Main Event – each with a value of $1,800. One entry is in the PCC auction and will go to the highest bidder. The other is the top prize in the Friday night Closest-to-the-Pin contest.

“Imagine this, for a $10 donation to Salute you could win $300,000. You can’t get a parlay that pays that good anywhere in Vegas!” Barnett exclaimed.
