The countdown to the Golden Tee Players Charity Championship in on, and PCC week is upon us.

SplintersSplinters Sports Pub in Palatine, Illinois is set to become the epicenter of Golden Tee this weekend (August 27th-29th), and final preparations are being made as the tournament excitement is building.

More than $56,000 has already been raised towards Salute, the beneficiary of this year's event. Salute, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Will and Mary Beth Beiersdorf to help meet the financial, physical and emotional needs of military service members, veterans and their families. They strive to raise awareness of their sacrifices and provide a safety net to ensure every military family is treated with honor and dignity.

While the focus of the weekend is without question Salute, the PCC also marks one of the biggest Golden Tee tournaments of the year. The game's best trackballers will be flocking to the Chicago suburbs with their eyes set on the giant prize pool - highlighted by the eye-popping $3,000 top prize.

The Players Charity Championship consists of two separate brackets with distinct head-to-head tournaments. Bracket qualification will be determined by a 3-game qualifier on Saturday, August 28th. The players with the 32 best qualifying scores will advance to Sunday's Champions Bracket. Those players who do not make the Champions Bracket are eligible to play in Sunday's Purple Bracket.

PayoutsThe Champions Bracket will be double elimination, head-to-head matches beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 29th. All 32 players will receive cash prizes when they are eliminated from competition. It's expected that the Champions Bracket Finals will begin at 5:00 p.m. The Purple bracket field will be seeded by order of finish in the qualifier. The top 16 players will receive cash prizes when they are eliminated from competition. It's expected that the Purple Bracket Finals will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Although the actual tournament doesn't get underway until Saturday, the festivities begin much earlier than that. Players are expected to check out Splinters on Thursday night for some pre-PCC fun, and Salute Friday is going to be a celebration you don't want to miss.

Salute Friday is open to everyone and we encourage that fans of the game stop by. The PCC CTTP Contest is the marquee event of the evening, with a spot in the WCOFF (World Championship of Fantasy Football) up for grabs. The contest begins at 7:00 PM and entry into this event is only $10. Friday night will also feature auctions, raffles, giveaways, a sneak peak at Golden Tee 2011, and a special performance by Ira Dean - the voice and personality behind It's Golden Tee.

While we'd love to see everyone make an appearance at the PCC this weekend, we understand that this isn't possible. Have no fear; we'll be keeping everyone in the know throughout the event.

The Golden Tee Facebook Page will be providing scoring updates as well as qualifying and tournament details. The GT Twitter feed will be sending pictures and quick tidbits to all the GT followers. And the Golden Tee Blog will be doing its first-ever live blog throughout the weekend; giving you all the information you need if you can't check out the action in person. On top of that, we will be recapping all the excitement on Goldentee.com Monday morning.

Before we get too hard ahead of ourselves, however, there still is plenty of time to donate to Salute and be a part of this unbelievable process. Every dollar goes a long way, and your donations will also be rewarded with 2011 gear that can help you take your game to the next level.
